COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Military Base Task Force is welcoming new leadership. Vice Chairman Dan Beatty has been named Chairman of the Task Force by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster. Beatty served more than 25 years in the Army and is also the Chief Compliance Officer for the South Carolina Education Lottery.
Beatty fills the position after previous chairman, Bill Bethea, announced his retirement in June. Bethea will remain part of the Task Force as Chairman Emeritus.
“Mr. Bethea’s time as Chairman of the Military Base Task Force was marked with substantial progress in the ways we’re able to serve our state’s military, veterans, and their loved ones,” said Gov. Henry McMaster. “I’m confident that Mr. Beatty’s commitment to service and his experience on the Task Force will serve those relying on its services well.”
South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs Secretary, William F. Grimsley thanks Bethea for his service saying, “We appreciate and honor Bill Bethea for his years of dedicated leadership with the South Carolina Military Base Task Force. Mr. Bethea worked alongside Dan Beatty on the Task Force, and I am more than confident that Mr. Beatty will make another indelible mark within this incredible organization dedicated to our military communities.”
“I’m deeply humbled to be entrusted to fulfill the role as Chairman of the MBTF,” says Dan Beatty. “I look forward to continuing the great work of the Task Force in serving our state’s military, service members, veterans and their families.”
Beatty’s appointment as Chairman begins immediately.
