Anderson, S.C. - MJ “Dolly” Cooper Veterans’ Cemetery observance of the 2020 Wreathes Across America (WAA) event this month will be a scaled down version from previous years. Family members, friends, and fellow veterans are welcome to lay wreathes during the month of December for their loved ones interred at the cemetery.
Wreathes can be artificial, or fresh cut, but must be simple in their design with a red ribbon. If family members wish to save their placed wreathes, we ask that they are picked up prior to 15 January 2021 as the staff will be recovering and discarding all wreathes after that time.
Our plan was developed in conjunction with local volunteer groups to minimize gatherings of large groups, safeguard staff, and follow the CDC’s guidance during this surge in the pandemic. The cemetery will remain open to the general public during the hours of daylight, with all visitors practicing social distancing and wearing a mask.
This plan enables us to preserve the capabilities to execute our primary mission to bury our nation’s service members, veterans and their eligible family members with the honor, dignity, and respect that the American people have come to expect from the MJ “Dolly” Cooper Veterans’ Cemetery.
