COLUMBIA, SC (SCDVA)-SCDVA and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has teamed up to highlight key employment opportunities for Veterans across the state. Positions available to Veterans within DHEC are within the organizations four core divisions: environmental affairs, health care quality, public health and support services. DHEC employs more than 3800 employees who work in a wide range of professions including nurses, physicians, nutritionists, lab technicians, administrators, program managers, communications professionals and more.

"A Veteran brings all the skills that we are looking for here at DHEC. First of all South Carolina is a Veteran-friendly state and offers a lot of benefits to be an employee here in the state of South Carolina as a Veteran," said DHEC Chief Human Resources Officer Marcus Robinson. "Here at DHEC we have a Veteran preference in our hiring. We make sure that our Veterans have a priority to get an interview for a job."

SCDVA's Senior Operations Coordinator Al Taylor has a background in workforce development is dedicated to helping Veterans in the community land the careers they deserve following their transition from military service.

"Veterans across the state of South Carolina, even those Veterans transitioning back to the state of South Carolina, are faced with challenges of leaving the military and transitioning in to the civilian workforce," said Taylor. "SCDVA is here and we are committed to assisting those Veterans in that transitioning and helping them obtain suitable, sustainable employment in the workforce."
