FORT JACKSON, S.C. - Fort Jackson’s commander invites the public to a special and up-close night view of Basic Combat Training on February 28th.

“I want to connect America to their Army,” said Fort Jackson commander Brig. Gen. Jason E. Kelly. “I am opening the gates at Fort Jackson so more can come and be part of the good that is happening after you pass our access control gates.”

To promote Basic Combat Training awareness, Fort Jackson will host a Come Meet Your Army tour to give local citizens an opportunity to see and experience how soldiers train and provide insight into the day-to-day operations. Everyone will meet at the Fort Jackson Noncommissioned Officer Club on 5700 Lee Road where the group will receive a briefing about Fort Jackson’s mission and training at the Night Infiltration Course (NIC). The group will have the opportunity to talk with drill sergeants and learn about equipment used on the battlefield. Then, the group will board a bus and travel to NIC to watch Basic Combat Training Soldiers move under direct, live machine gun fire, The tour will end with the opportunity of talking to soldiers about their training.

PLEASE NOTE: You must bring a copy of your invitation and a valid ID to gain access to Fort Jackson. We recommend wearing long pants and close-toe, comfortable shoes. Space is limited and reservations are required. The tour begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m.
