CAMDEN, S.C. - A World War II Veteran made the trip with family from Norwood, Massachusetts to Camden, South Carolina to honor the Army Lieutenant credited with saving his life.

Private Anthony Grasso gave a final salute to First Lieutenant Frank Dubose who was killed in action November 2, 1944 in Aachen, Germany.  Dubose was laid to rest in Quaker Cemetery in Camden on April 16, 1949.  Grasso, who is 96 years old, gave a final salute to Dubose with his family and loved ones by his side on Friday, May 28th.

Residents of New England learned of Grasso’s story after reading the book “All Souls Day: The World War II Battle and the Search for a Lost U.S. Battalion” by Joseph Pereira who also attended the ceremony.

SC Department of Veterans' Affairs Secretary Will Grimsley gave remarks along with MG Julian Burns, (Ret.), members of the American Legion and relatives of Grasso.
